On June 14th, nearly 400 people gathered at Tracy Park in Portsmouth, Ohio, to take a united stand for democracy at the No King Protest. Led by Scioto Peace and Justice and the Scioto County Democratic Party, this event was a powerful act of nonviolent resistance against growing authoritarianism and threats to our democratic institutions. Special thanks go to Lorry S. for being a driving force in making it all happen.

Alongside the protest, the community came together in an inspiring show of generosity through a very successful food drive. Thanks to everyone’s contributions, we were able to donate a large amount of shelf-stable food to Pleasant Valley Community of Christ in Lucasville and Our Daily Bread in Rarden, which provides daily takeout meals to those in need.

A special shout-out to our safety team, who helped ensure a safe and peaceful gathering, and to the incredible volunteers who passed out water and kept folks cool under the summer sun. Despite a few counter-protesters (fewer than 10), the event remained peaceful and focused on solidarity and hope.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, stood up, and gave back. This is what democracy looks like. 💪❤️
