Ohio gubernatorial candidate Richard Cordray will be guest-speaker, Oct. 14 PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Oct. 1, 2018) – Ohio Gubernatorial Candidate Richard Cordray will join the Scioto County Democratic Party for its annual Fall Banquet on Oct. 14. The banquet is the largest annual fundraiser for the Scioto County Democratic Party.
"I'm excited to be joining fellow Democrats to discuss our vision for an Ohio that works for everyone — not just those at the top. Betty Sutton and I have always stood up for working people and we will continue to do so as Ohio's next governor and lt. governor,” Cordray said. “We are committed to putting money back in the pockets of middle class Ohioans by reducing health care costs, improving education and workforce training, and investing in Ohio's small businesses."
Richard Cordray is a lifelong Ohioan, born and raised in Grove City, where both of his parents dedicated their careers to working on behalf of people with disabilities. Over the last five years, Cordray served as the first-ever director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a position he was appointed to by President Obama. Under Cordray’s leadership, the CFPB brought actions against some of the nation’s largest financial institutions forcing them to pay nearly $12 billion to over 30 million Americans who were cheated or mistreated. Before serving our country at the Consumer Bureau, Cordray defended Ohioans as Attorney General and served as the Ohio Treasurer.
In addition to Cordray, local Scioto County candidates Adrienne Buckler (candidate for Ohio House of Representatives), Rachel Daehler (candidate for Scioto County Prosecutor), Trampas Puckett (candidate for Scioto County Commissioner), and others will be attending the 2018 Fall Banquet.
The event will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Oct. 14 the American Legion Post 23, in Portsmouth, Ohio.
